PLAYOFFS

DeChambeau was the clear most popular pick and Schauffele was a clear second, but they were not the most common pairing due to budget constraints. DeChambeua was most often paired with Lee MW (55x), who is among the biggest BUSTS along with Thomas and Cantlay when you take everything into consideration (points, selections, score). Riley was the biggest steal, delivering a t2 for just 9 points for just 3 entrants..

260 of 530 entrants used all 300 allotted points. All but 10 spent at least 290, with no one going completely crazy. Jerri P (t288) left 19 on the board.

The 16 entrants listed at right chose All-American rosters, while DiFiore1 and Green Mamba chose NO Americans.

The 18 entrants listed at left chose golfers from 6 different countries, as usual none were 6-continent squads.

Australia led the way for foreign countries with paired golfers at 21x, including Delac/Shook who took a trio of Aussies.

5 of the 7 entrants who paired golfers from Denmark went with the Hojgaard brothers.

FINAL

Clan Lombard (438th) had the most unbalanced roster, spending 290 points in the first 3 columns and picking two Club Pros at the end. The most balanced is Austin O (t498), ranging from Spieth at 53 to Rose at 46.

The Most Popular roster belongs to the duplicate teams of AllLuck and G Robins (t217), with 5 of the 8 golfers who were selected >100x and no one selected <90x. The Class Nerd is Delac/Shook (526th), with 5 golfers selected 25x or less and no one picked more than 63x.

In case you're not picking up on a theme, it seems the people who make the pre-tourney roster notes never do very well.

131 of a possible 157 golfers were chosen to at least one roster, with Keefer at 17 points the highest valued SNUB. The reason there was one extra golfer is because 25 entrants originally picked Theegala, who withdrew, and three failed to utilize our rules to replace him so they wre stuck with him and got the Adjusted Cut all four days. I added his real-life replacement Smalley in the final hours and one entrant did pick him.

48 percent of all selections MC'd. That's a big number. Only 8 entrants had no MCs. Two entrants had the weekend off as they failed to advance any golfers: TNote 10 and Toothless 3MN, who finished DFL and 2nd-to-last. Here's MCs per column:

It was a rough week for his favorite basketball team, so while the Ghost of Red Auerbach will not be lighting any cigars this year, Matt Lazarek lit one up to celebrate becoming a GSC Major winner with a 4-stroke win in the PGA Pool, joining his father Joe who won the 2018 PGA Pool. They become the second father-son combo to win Majors, joining the Dohertys who completed the feat just last year. Coincidentally, both families won the same pool - US for Dots, PGA for Lazareks. (see bottom for flashback to Dad's win).

Matt is Next Gen from a group of longtime entrants from Franklin, MA. Dad finished t473 this week, but Matt let him have a few puffs anyway to celebrate the historic family achievement.

Matt's Sunday mirrored his lead golfer Scheffler, losing a big lead but ultimately righting the ship and winning comfortably.

Charlie's Irons settled for 2nd. He made up 10 strokes to tie Lazarek at one point, but then lost momentum. He also stands 2nd in the GSC Cup race, where Klyne leads following a t35 at the Masters with a t8 this week. Masters Pool winner robschneider21 suffered a quick fall, finishing t512, dropping to t114 in the Cup.
